Study And Realization Of Cloud Data Center Of Higher Vocational College Based On Virtualization Technology

With IT technology being widely used in educational field, educational informationization changes every aspect of education at a unprecedented speed, it has been an inevitable choice for people who is engaged in education field to make use of the modern IT technology to assist teaching, administrative and nearly everything in the campus. many kinds of applications which were based on either B/S or C/S infrastructure has been involved into our daily work in school. As a result, there are more and more server running in our equipment cabinet to fullfill the continus growing number of application system’s need, and data volume increase consistently and rapidly. The data center is an element facility which play as the host of the servers, and be responsible for the data safety. could it take effective management to more server、larger size of data, and troubleshoot, maintain and patch those hardware and software timely when failure happen has become a big problem in front of all those staff working in the IT support department. Meanwhile, to most higher vacational college,the IT investment is limited, how could it providing reliable、flexible、extendable and high computing storage capbility using limited investment is really a dilemma. Most higher vocational college has set up a department named information center to deal with IT related affairs, consequently, the data center has domain a major part of the information center’s job content. Introducing the cloud computing technology to reform the existing data center to meet with the continus rising request for computing and storage ability, and ensure the manageable platform runs cost-effectively will be a focus point in the near future.This article start with the cloud’s basis and present situation and induce popular solution based on cloud and its infrastructure. Then we made through analysis to higher vocational college’s general informationize demands, with this, we know exactly what we want when trying to design a new data center using the cloud. after the data center is deployed according to our scheme, we discussed how to test、optimize the cloud, including modify the data backup scheme to suit the cloud. finally, we tell the detail procedures about the migration work,for instance, how to migrate the mission critical database, and some B/S applications to the new cloud data center, an sample of plan will be provided which contain the operation steps、test project and a rollback plan in case the migration is not committed successfully. these procedures are proved to be helpful to ensure the migration successed.In today’s digital campus, cloud data center will provide features like server virtualization、self-help computing source manage、fast provision of server、desktop virtualization which were not available to traditional data center, to settle up strong foundation for the school’s development and incoming applications and systems, that will narrow the gap on educational informationization equipment between higher vacational college and other big university. the cloud data center consists of module like computing resource pool、storage resource pool、network、management platform and many applications and templates that work with the cloud’s features. The success of this project will deepen the system administrator’s understanding towards the system infrastructure, and raise to the level of high-performance and high- available、this will advance the staffs’s technical merit and make the maintainance work more efficient. it will lead the TCO of data center drop down significantly.
