Communications Client Software Design

With the rapid development of communication technologies and the enhancing of IP network capabilities, voice service has been unable to meet the needs of different users,data services and multimedia services have gained people’s attention greatly. More and more mixed services are appearing. Unified communications become an important mean of communication after traditional phones and emails. Unified communications integrate many kinds of functions such as instant messaging, the file transfer and audio communication, which have brought users in closer contact with each other and play a huge role in reducing the communication cost and improving working efficiency. Users can get data services, voice services, video services and information sending or receiving services through client ends, and know about the communication wishes of friends and useful information about their friends’ statuses by the technique of information displaying,which offers a flexible, user-friendly method of communication.On the basis of meeting users’ present needs, the mostly aim of research in this paper is to develop a humanized, digitized, safe and reliable communication platform.This paper first illustrates the concept of unified communications, research status and the research meaning and background. Following introduced are the related technologies of unified communications. On this basis, this paper analyzes the functional requirements of unified communications. Second, a general design of unified communications has been given. Then this paper designs and implements the login module of the system client,information displaying and management module, instant messaging module, the file transfer module and audio communication module. Finally, according to the functional requirements of the system, this paper puts forward test cases and does a test on the system client.The testing results verify that the designed client of unified communications which can be extend and maintained easily is satisfy the main need of users and design objectives,and has a certain practical value.
