Since 2005, food safety incidents have been a common occurrence in society, causing widespread attention to the community. It is a headache to the government to ensure safe food to the ordinary people. In addition to strengthening supervision on the policy aspect, cooperation and support from society will be indispensable.Meat is a kind of essential consumer goods on the table of the vast m ajority of people, and its safety is a priority am ong priorities. With the rapid developm ent and universal coverage, inform ation technology and network comm unication technology, especially the com prehensive promotion of smart phones, has m ade it possible for ordinary consumers to trace and query about meat quality. The meat traceability query system designed in this paper focuses m ainly on pork and can also be applied to the chilled fresh pork in gift boxes in the supermarkets to achieve the traceability queries.The market research and business flow an alysis of the pork processing industry show that most of the live pigs in pig sl aughterhouses and processing enterprises are mainly from large animal farms and reta il-based farmers now, which makes their traceability even more difficulty. In order to achieve traceability query, we carried out researches and m ade analyses from varied perspectives, m ainly based on the data collected from large animal farms. The traceability sources are mainly based on the data from animal farms, slaughterhouses, m eat segmentation workshops and product packaging lines. The Data a re input mainly into Excel spreadsheets. T he traceability information includes basic inform ation about live pigs, breeding infor mation, slaughtering information, product information, information about processing enterprises, etc. the p roduct packaging is pasted with a genuine traceability code(19 barcodes). Consumers can scan the genuine traceability code on the product pack aging with their smart phones’ App to autom atically check out the rela ted product traceability information. Consumers can also use the checking machines with code scanners to scan the genuine traceability code on the product packaging to access the related p roduct traceability information. Also, consum ers can input the genuine product traceability code on the package in to their computers to check out the related product traceability information. At the sa me time, the system needs to provide the generation function of genuine traceability codes, generate barcodes automatically through product selections, and print out the barcodes.On the basis of reference to sim ilar systems, this paper designs and i mplements a small meat traceability inquiry system. With the system’s portability and scalability into consideration, the sys tems development language is decided to be Java, the development tool Eclipse, the web server T omcat, the mobile phone App the open source Android development platform, and the database Oracle.
