Research On Barrier-free Services Of Public Library In Shanxi Province

Since the 1990s, the Chinese government, social institutions and organizations, and individuals from all walks of life pay more and more attention to the problem of vulnerable groups. And solve social vulnerable groups problem perfectly can reflect national humanities concern, is a inherent requirement to promote social justice and building harmonious information society. Especially nowadays, information technology have been highly developed, the network spread to households, vulnerable groups (especially the disabled and the elderly)how to obtain and use information resources, there are still big gap between them and normal. This situation worsen the social environment of survival and development for the disabled, so that they can’t really participate in social life equally. As a public welfare services funded by the government, public library should assume the responsibility of trimming and conveying information for the general reader. Especially to the disabled and the elderly vulnerable readers, public library should develop various barrier-free service policy, to realize the fair distribution of information. Nowadays, under the background of our country has 85.02 million disabled people and has stepped into an aging society, the public library should on the basis of ensuring its physical environment barrier-free, providing information services accessibility and web accessibility for vulnerable groups, and meet the information demands of social vulnerable groups especially the disabled and elderly readers by a variety of services.This paper divided into five parts:the first part is the introduction, this paper discusses the researching purpose, researching significance, the innovation, and domestic and foreign researching status of information accessibility; The second part briefly describes the basic concept of information accessibility; The third part is the core part of the full text, combined with related accessibility standards, research the physical environment accessibility and barrier-free services of six public libraries in Shanxi Province by the way of questionnaire and on-the-spot visiting. Make full use of the site assessment tools-Achecker to test the library website accessibility. At last, this paper analysize the researching conclusion and point out the existing problems; The fourth part according to the investigation and analysis on the basis of the third part about barrier-free services of six public library in Shanxi Province, aiming at the problems existing in the barrier-free service of library and put forward corresponding countermeasures. The fifth part summarize the full text and put forward the barrier-free service of public libraries in the future.This article used the literature research method, questionnaire survey method, field survey method, etc.
