With the development of the packaging industry, the past die-cutting process expose a lot of shortcomings: complex production process, low production precision, material consumption and other shortcomings, which is increasingly difficult to meet the needs of industrial development. The whole industry needs a new craft to replace the existing die cutting method. To solve this problem, the paper introduced laser to processing package materials, then a cutting control system based on movement of the laser beam is developed, with galvanometer system to control the light path, and write the PC program based on Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 to control the laser beam power density and moving speed, a variety of packaging materials can be cut quickly and accurately.Firstly, the paper analyses the process and disadvantages of traditional die-cutting technology, the development of laser cutting technology, and then develops the control scheme of the system: the PC with motion control card, this paper designs servo motor control system and the galvanometer control system, analyses the types of galvanometer scanning distortion, mainly for pincushion distortion, linear distortion and focus error, and develops the methods of error correction, during which software and hardware correction is the main part. Software correction’s flexible degree is higher, and the method is simple, reliable and cheap, which this paper uses. Meanwhile,the paper analysess the programming principle of three system modules via Microsoft Visual Studio 2008: module used to draw and edit vector illustration, module used to read the DXF file data and module used to control laser cutting process; develops the split ideas, design process of each function module.The paper carries out the research of experimental and theoretical analyses of cutting packaging materials by using low power CO2-laser after the laser cutting machine is finished. The relation between laser power, the velocity of laser beam and cutting depth is reached based on theoretical deduction. The experiments are designed to verify the results, and the mathematical model is corrected based on the cause of the error.
