Laser cutting machine is widely used, but the majority is of lower-quality, which are CO2 laser cutting machine.China product laser cutting machine, in which the laser power is low, cutting the gap is very wide, the processing of the work piece surface accuracy and quality is poor, and the stability of the whole machine needs to be improved flexibility. Motion control system of Laser Cutting Machine is still using a foreign general machine controller, the resulting problem is that the system does not have the open property, on whose basis to build up a second development in the attempt, so it is difficult to integrate graphical programming software into the control system inside. But with the information technology industry continuously developing and with industrial automation continuously improving, PLC (programmable logic controller), touch screen, motion control unit applications become more common, but also with the continuous improvement of industrial upgrading, the transformation and technology updates of laser cutting machine become a necessity, laser cutting machine motion control system has become inevitable. Based on this, the research topic is proposed.By reading a lot of literature on the laser cutting machine development at home and abroad, the PLC, touch screen, motion control unit and the development of the basic principles are reviewed. By analyzing the working principle of the Laser cutting machine device, this motion control program is selected, and motion control systems is developed of the laser cutting machine which is based on PLC, touch screen, motion control unit.So a simple button can be on operation to cut the work piece by a predetermined trajectory shape.To complete the corresponding control program, design work is made on the control system hardware and software. Present paper has already done research work in the following areas:1. After the understanding of laser cutting machine, three control programs is proposed, and through the comparison of advantages and disadvantages of three options, but also on the actual situation, the third selection is made which based on the touch screen, PLC, motion control unit to set up a motion control systems of laser cutting machine.2. Hardware devices are selected, including touch screen models as NTST631C, models of PLC as CS1G, Motion Control Unit model as OMRON MC221. And communication between them is described.3. According to the system control requirements, a touch screen interface is designed, including manual/automatic operation select screen, linear trajectory, trajectory arc, elliptical arc trajectory, polygon trajectory, parabolic trajectory parameters, and many trace interface; APLC touch screen is prepared to the initialize procedure, and to convey data which call G code programs and procedures. In the CX-motion programming software of the motion control unit, the trajectory G code program is developed, and the movement control of axis was set.Operational reliability and the system stability become higher. Using the touch screen as the control interface makes it much more humane, and human-computer dialogue is even more convenient. Trajectory control functions are Achieved, particular difficult trajectory control is achieved by the use of powerful computing of PLC.
