The resources discovery system is an important means of information retrieval and information services of libraries in digital environments, and is the basis of digital libraries currently, and a helpful tool of information resources construction of university libraries. Being different from the concept of traditional information retrieval and acquisition, resources description replaces “retrieval” with “discovery”, and changes a passive behavior of information into an active behavior. Resources discovery system products have their own characteristics. With regard to the university libraries in our country, whether to introduce a system and how to introduce a system suitable for their own collection building are one of the hot issues in current library circles. The resources discovery system achieves technical innovation and expands the coverage area of data exploration and mining, which provides user services with high efficiency and high quality. This dissertation, through multiple dimensions, analyzes domestic and foreign resources systems to find the characteristics of them, and analyzes application of university library resources discovery systems to find the characteristics of them in China, in order to put forward the selection strategies and measures of university library resources discovery systems in China and concrete construction schemes.In first chapter, through analysis of the significance of the research and the current research situation at home and abroad, making the thinking and innovation points of this paper.In second chapter, this dissertation sorts out relevant theories of information retrieval techniques and the evolution of relevant techniques. The library literature retrieval technology experiences OPAC, database navigation and unified retrieval platform, then evolves into resources discovery system. It is illustrated in this part that the resources discovery system is currently the optimal tool of document information retrieval through analysis on the evolution of techniques.In third chapter, this dissertation analyzes the feasibility of system from home and abroad. In this part, through the comparison between the current independent development systems at home and abroad at multiple dimensions, this dissertation the technical indicators and the scope of application. Analysis of resources discovery system by means of resources coverage, metadata access, price model, service mode, processing ability of Chinese and development mode, come to conclusions about system characteristics and application coverage.In fourth chapter, through web access and investigation and other methods, this dissertation make conclusions on the introduction of status of university library resources discovery systems at home. through the comparison between the current situations of system applications at home and abroad, the consideration of system selection can be discovered at a macro level. Meanwhile, the different characteristics and practical application conditions between foreign and domestic products form the factors of selection for university libraries as well. With the analysis on examples of application of domestic university libraries, advice on system selection can be made.The fifth chapter expounds system selection principles and strategies, construction of system comprehensive analysis on system put-in and scheme analysis and so on. This part investigates construction scheme on systems put-in and independently developed. Feasible suggestions and policy recommendations are proposed.The sixth chapter is about this dissertation’s problems and future prospects.
