Wire-based Laser Additive Manufacture(WLAM) is an important direction in metal material’s 3D print technology. It can manufacture 3 dimension part by the lapping layer by layer of wire, which is the filling material. In the Additive Manufacture with the heat resource of laser, the powder-based captures the major while the wire-based conquests minor. Smaller pollution, higher material’s usage, better economy, higher formation efficiency are the advantage of Wire-based Laser Additive Manufacture comparing with powder-based.In this paper, comparation of WLAM’s technological characters and properties under the conditions of heat wire and cold wire with the filling material of 316 L stainless steel,and then the melting pool size was controlled steadily,after that, several typical samples were created by the WLAM.First of all, a systematic research was applied under the condition of WLAM with clod wire, then the continuous formation was arrived in the different angles and positions of filling wire, after that, an optimized technology was reached. In our results: wire’s head should be located in the center of laser spot and the distance between wire and surface of deposition layer should be about 0.4mm.The size of melting pool is various layer after layer as a result of changing heat emission condition, and this can be solved by controlling the laser power, finally a stable pool size can be got. A compact single wall sample was obtained in the condition of optimized technology, none-fused between the layers and pore are not found in the sample,and the mechanical properties are at the same level of casting.The research of WLAM’s technology character of hot wire was carried out, the research results shows that the heat wire can broaden the window of WLAM,which can make the adaptive range between wire and laser spot broader in the process of continuous deposition. and can improve the formation in the manufacture of complex part which concluding the corner and lapping.The depositing sample of heat wire has none inner defect, the microstructure and mechanical properties are the similar with typical cold wire additive manufacture.Finally, three kinds of samples were created under the optimized parameters of WLAM. Stable technology, good surface formation,these all show the feasibility of wire-based additive manufacture.
