As an important part of hoist, bearing and transportation equipment, the steel rope is widely used in a lot of areas, such as coal mine, construction, ports and elevators. Due to its structure and the bad working conditions, steel rope occurs broken inevitably. If those serious injuries were not identified immediately, it will endanger the safety of life and property. Therefore, it is necessary and significant to detect the broken of steel rope in real time.Based on analyze the existed system of single wire rope detection, this article designs a new system of monitoring single wire rope. The whole system uses magnetic flux leakage testing method as the principle. The sensor consists of three Hall elements and the respective single processing circuit. At first, the signal is transmitted from sensor to the control panel which uses STM32microcontroller as the core. And then the control panel sends the signal to PC software through CAN bus, so as to realize the real-time monitoring of the broken wire rope.The software selects VC++6.0as the development tool in Microsoft Windows operating system. An in-depth study of the structure and working principle of the hardware system goes first before designing the software. Then detailed analysis the requirements of the software, and propose overall design plan and development process. The functions of the software include:real-time data acquisition and displaying, data storage, replaying historical data and automatically generating test report. Considering the system’s problem of real-time and resources, we use exclusive and multi-threading technology and combining USB CAN communication interface cards to provide an interface library functions in the process of the design. As what we take, we achieve a lot of functions, such as real-time rendering data acquisition, real-time curve, historical data storage multitasking parallel processing. In order to meet the demand that the software frequently accessed data, we establish secure storage mechanism for the historical data. Use ADO technology to connect Access database of steel rope and applications, and then realize historical curve replaying and generate test report.The test shows that the CAN bus communicating between software and PC is accurate and reliable. The software can satisfy the real-time monitoring of broken wire rope. The whole system has high signal processing speed, high precision and good stability, so it can effectively prevent broken wire rope accident.
