The wire rope is the important components in traction, loading processing, using extensively in modern winding, hoisting, lifting and hauling system. Due to various factors, the wire rope appears different broken wires in the process of using, low use strength and even to fracture.That will appear serious consequences of casualties and economic loss.If we use artificial detection, which will produce the huge costs and waste because of replacing wire rope. Therefore, the monitoring of this kind wire rope is imperative.This topic is developed by Visual Basic 6.0 language in Microsoft Windows operating system, aiming at large amounts of data processing, introducing Microsoft Access database management system, using the method of object-oriented analysis and design and programming, investigating and analysing the broken wire of the single wire rope, then developing this monitoring software system. The software design is based on that the signal of the broken wires is acquired by microcontroller. The main work is divided into several parts, first is data acquisition system:on hardware,it introduces the theory of the serial port RS232 and shows schematic diagram of the RS232 serial connection between microcontroller and upper computer. In software, it introduces detailedly the Visual Basic 6.0 MSComm control that how to realize the data communications with microcontroller and explain parts of communication procedures;Second is the establishment of the system database: it introduces detailedly how to set up a new Microsoft Access database management system in Visual Basic and how to realize the data storage of the broken wire signal and the relevant part program; Moreover is signal processing: because of the complexity of the broken wire rope,the signal need to be processed at its preliminary. It introduces detailedly the signal processing theory-wavelet transformation theory and neural network knowledge, especially the MATLAB toolbox of wavelet and neural network. The broken wires signal can be decomposed and reconstructed by using wavelet, so as to be filtered and reshaped, also the useful signal characteristics that the input of neural network model can be extracted by wavelet. By using the neural network, we can set up the automatic recognition and diagnosis system of the broken wire signals and realize the quantitative identification of the broken wire signals; The last is curve display and data viewing and printing:it introduce detailedly the seamless connection technology within Visual Basic6.0 and MATLAB, the data curve and display can be realized easily by this technology.In the last of the thesis, it does the sum of system and points out some improvements and further development direction in the future.
