In recent years, developing at a striking speed, the techniques of satellite communication have found its’ position in every aspect of human life, both in civil and military fields. The high-rate data transmission technology is of significance for solving the problem of space-to-earth high-rate data transmission and is a pivotal issue, which should be given priority, to construct the wide-band satellite communication systems.High-rate data transmission system is mainly realized using all-digital modem architecture, in which real-time configuration and on-line debugging are key technologies. Based on the development of broadband multi-configuration, multi-rate digital modem, some important issues are analyzed and discussed referring to the real-time configuration and on-line debugging subsystem in digital communication receivers:Firstly, the overall design for variable rate modem are presented, and the specific demand for real-time configuration and on-line debugging are analyzed. System bus and hardware architecture are designed. The Compact PCI(Compact Peripheral Component Interconnect, CPCI) bus architecture is selected in our system and the corresponding interface scheme is described. Also presented are the design for overall hardware architecture and principle computer software.Secondly, CPCI bus based dynamic loading of multiple FPGA chips are designed. The upper computer control software and the interface control based on FPGA are accomplished. And the real time configuration of modem parameters is also realized.Finally, the schemes for demodulating, test data uploading and integral control software are developed. The CPCI bus based on-line debugging system of high rate modem is realized. And the testing results demonstrate that the design is reasonable and qualified.
