As a high-tech of gathering and processing information in time, RFID(Radio Frequency Identification) has been recognized as one of the world’s top ten key technologies in the 21 st century. RFID application system generally consists mainly of four components: tags, readers, RFID middleware and Enterprise Management System. As the core part of RFID application system, in addition to connecting hardware and Enterprise Management System, RFID middleware must provides enterprises with the effective business information. In this paper, we apply the complex event processing technology to RFID middleware, designed and implemented the RFID middleware system based on complex event processing, in order to covert raw data into bussiness information in time and effectively.Firstly, combining with domestic and foreign research present situation and the requirement analysis of RFID middleware, we designed the RFID middleware into four-layer structure-Edge service layer, Data filtering layer, Events processing layer and Events publishing layer. In addition, the functions of each module are outlined.Secondly, the RFID middleware has been carried on the detailed design and realization of every layer. Edge service layer mainly unifies the operation of RFID readers and unifies the format of tags data; Data filtering layer meets users’ needs and gets reliable,valid datas through duplication elimination filter, smoothing filter and attribute filter; Event processing layer convert the valid data into business events in time by using complex event processing engine-Esper with the complex event processing technology; Event publishing layer sends the bussiness events to the corresponding topic subscription enterprise applications based on different themes of business events by using Active MQ messaging middleware and stores business events into the My SQL relational database.Finally, simulating the bussiness events of the port logistics center with the middleware and testing the performance of matching and dalay. Experimental results show that the RFID middleware system designed in this paper can basically satisfies the huge amounts of data real-time event handling functionality and converts raw data into business information which enterprise needed quickly and effectively.
