Natural convection is one of the most reliable and common cooling ways of all heat dissipation, although its thermal performance is generally not as good as forced convection, it need no other energy supply, have reliable performance and good stability. It also safer, produce no noise and low cost. So it has been widely used in society. In recent years, environmental and energy problems have had more and more attention, so the development of natural radiator is necessary.We know that optimizing ordinary radiator is mainly by changing its geometric parameters, in order to reduce the thermal resistance, so that we can get better heat dissipation effect. However, when the radiator’s thermal conductivity rise to a certain extent, the heat transfer ability can never significantly improve. Because its structure is not good.In this case, a new structure natural radiator should appear. In the light of the natural heat dissipation problems of PCB and other electronic devices, we will build a new kind of natural radiator, and this radiator is based on the idea of functional differentiation.The thesis will use experiments and simulation method to compare the most widely used rectangular-fin radiator and the new structure radiator.The research content of this thesis will mainly consist of the following parts:(1) Using theoretical analysis and experiment to explain or verify the relevant thoughts. Using experiments to verify the feasibility and correctness of the simulation. So we can use simulation method to research radiators.(2) Establish the model of traditional rectangular-fin radiator and the new structure radiator. Using computational fluid dynamics software FLOTHERM to simulate two kinds of radiator by different parameters, so we can do temperature field and velocity field analysis.(3) Analyze actual case by using the method of simulation to demonstrate the new structure and rectangular-fin radiators’ performances, in order to illustrate that new structure radiator has better heat dissipation performance and fuel economy than the traditional rectangular-fin radiator.
