With the fast development of economic globalization, science and technology, more and more enterprises, especially the multinational corporations (MNC), rely on the enterprise information systems to manage their business as well as company. ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system is one of the most powerful systems in all kinds of Information Systems. Approximately 80% of Global Fortune 500 companies are using or plan to use ERP software as a tool of decision-making and management of resources, which indicates the important role that the ERP system is playing nowadays.ERP project is always a systematic project, which is extremely huge and covers many aspects with a large investment of both money and time. It is not easy to succeed in ERP implementation and it is very likely to encounter lots of problems during project. In this case, project team’s careful working and a scientific project management methodology are highly required to ensure project’s success. Many companies have paid much attention to the quality management of the project during the project implementation. However, due to the lack of knowledge and experience on IT project management, they did not pay much attention to the project communication, especially the communication between implementation team and end-users, which led to the incoherence of project deliverables and user requirements, dissatisfaction of users and even the failure of the project. Meanwhile, with the development of research on knowledge management, more and more enterprises, especially the knowledge-intensive enterprises, started paying attention to the company knowledge management. In project management, especially the ERP related project, the need of introducing knowledge management into project management to enhance project’s quality is becoming more and more strong.This dissertation has mainly studied on the external communication management and internal knowledge management with a case study of an ERP implementation project in a company of global fortune 500. In the dissertation, main problems and the reasons in project communication management and knowledge management have been discussed and analyzed, the related solutions and improvement actions have been provided with analysis on the influence and improvements they could bring to project. In the end, a new hypothesis of the communication management and knowledge management system for ERP project in MNC has been raised.
