The fast development of internet and mobile web technology transforms the landscape of media by introducing various forms of social media. A pedestrian is taking a picture of incident and upload immediately at the break. News webpage functions as a platform for interaction with viewers, obtaining first-hand information about customer preference. Big "V" on internet may well exert their influence by taking advantage of various media. The characteristics of media have been transformed. The traditional single-dimensional media terminal has evolved into a multi-dimensional terminal integrating functions of reading, listening and writing. It highlights the convenience and interaction featured by new media, while influencing the behavioral model and mindset of viewers. Facing this dramatic revolution of media environment, this paper is devoted to analyzing the competitive environment of media in order to figure out appropriate strategy and its implementation measures.Retrospectively speaking, the traditional newspaper industry saw various changes. At the beginning of opening-up policy, the party’s paper monopolizes the market. In the 90’s of previous century, city newspapers arise with features more popular to the people. Then, the news groups were formed to encompass more functions like capital management. Every transformation is featured by a strategic shift. Newsgroup needs to adjust itself to the new competitive environment.This paper takes the example of Q newsgroup to analyze the specific environment by adopting competitive advantage analysis and competitive strategic analysis in order to identify the new strategic direction.This paper summarizes the history and status quo of Q news group. Through PEST and Five Forces Model, this paper analyzes the external environment. Internally, this paper adopts value chain analysis to identify the competitive strategy for Q newsgroup and propose implementation measures.
