Analysis And Design Of Panzhihua University Degree Management Information System

IT, as a management tool, has been used in more and more industries for its efficiency, accuracy, standardization and other advantages. However, due to various reasons, Panzhihua University(referred to as PZHXY) is still using OFFICE as the only tool to finish the preliminary audit of degree-granting work, which is difficult to ensure the safety and accuracy as well as the greater cost of inputs, and the lack of sharing data. Another question is the limited development of Degree Management Systems which is nearly impossible for PZHXY to solve all the existing technical problems mentioned above. So, it is necessary for PZHXY to find a Degree Management Information System which is really suitable for it.The author of the paper has made a detailed plan of the Degree Management System which is based on the investigations on the staffs of awarding work, and analysis of these data. In this plan, the author figured out the requirements for the users of the Degree Management System. At the same time, the author proposes to design the system according to its users on the basis of analyzing their actual situations, and the Unified Modeling Language(UML) should be used in the process of designing the descriptive language. On the other hand, B/S structure should also be used for the development, and ASP.NET and SQL Server databases are both important for the establishment of models. With all the tool mentioned above, the system can be sound at last. This system is mainly designed for three sorts of users: graduate managers, counselors and students. At the same time, system management, awarding management and escalation management are three important functions of this system. With them, the system can really finish the query of grant-bit data, the analysis of the awarding results, the export of data, and the report of data etc.The reliability, security, efficiency and other features of the system have been tested and proven which can meet the needs of all kinds of users because it is well-structured and easy to be operated. In addition, its documentations are so accurate that they can reach the intended target in the course of the system development. However, due to the time and cost of inputs and other reasons, there are still some aspects which need to be improved, such as its running speed, safety, and limitation of functions and so on.
