As the most important partin radar transmitters, accelerators and microwave sources, high voltage pulse modulators have significant impacts on the whole electronic systems. With the development of microwave devices and the expansion of applications, there are increasingly stricterrequirements for pulse modulator parameters and more emphasison the performance improvement of high voltage pulse modulator. In recent years, various integrated circuits come into being due tothe rapid development of electronic devices. The voltage parametersand current parameters of switching devices are improved a lot. New pulse modulator technologies based on traditional linear modulation are becoming more and more sophisticated. Networking and intellectualization are new developing trends of current control systems.This thesis arises from the demands for a microwave pulse power with high stability, aims at the implementation of highly stable pulse output and firmly reliable control system, and completes the design of the whole microwave pulse power. The main work and contributions of this thesis are as following:1. We study the designs and working principles of traditional linear modulators and analyze their drawbacks and limitations. A new plan is proposed to adopt a constant current charging power as the pulse modulator power. We carefully analyze the advantages, working principle, and design solutions of this constant current charging power which is implemented by series resonance. Finally, we complete the hardware design and calculate all the parameters.2. We analyze the main factors and reasons affecting the stability parameters of the output pulse. Then we describe our idea of improving the pulse stability by switching the charging current. Furthermore, the design of circuits is done.3. We do research on the needs and performances of the control system. The programmable logic controller is chosen to be the key part of that control system considering its reliability, stability and convenience. Then software design is completed, during which we further study the advantages and trends ofmodularization, functionalization and general utilization in programming.4. Various implementations of communications networks in industrial controlare studied by comparing the advantages and disadvantages of various solutions. Weconfirm the utility of high-speed industrial Ethernet as the communications network of our microwave pulse power control system.We also analyze the control interface focusing onconvenience and stability. Thus, Wangzutai Software is used to program the control interface of the host computer and the design of remote control interface is accomplished.5.The feasibility of all our designsis verified through the prototype debugging of software and hardware. We finally summarize the advantages and disadvantages of microwave pulse power system design and put forward some suggestions for improvements.
