Study On The Narrative Of Outdoor Reality TV Programs

As a popular form of program around the world, Reality TV show has become beautiful scenery in TV screen since it landed in China in new century. Especially, in recent years, the competition of television media industry has turn to be bloody brutal, and the Reality TV seems to be the main battlefield in this competition. Since Reality TV show was born, outdoor reality show has been the main form. Reality show is one of the most popular types of programs in Europe, Japan and Korea. To Chinese audience outdoor reality show is not strange, however, aired effect is always in a tepid situation. However, outdoor reality show suddenly returns to the dominant position of TV program due to the huge success from some programs of Hunan TV, such as ‘change life’, ‘daddy, where we go’ and ‘flowers and youth’. The outdoor reality show of Hunan TV can always get good economic benefit and social benefit, which plays a highly significant role in determining the direction of Chinese outdoor reality show. After several years of development, we realize that the outdoor reality show has been much clearer in the narrative direction.Nowadays TV story tendency is increasingly clear, and the reality show presents its features of story and drama at the beginning of design. In this paper, I am going to take Hunan TV outdoor reality show as the research object along with careful study and analysis on system by using the theory of narration. This paper firstly explains the interdisciplinary combination between reality TV and narrative theory. Secondly, the paper is to conclude the development process of reality show. The last, the hardcore of this paper is to find out the underlying reasons and rules of produce which leads to its success on the basis of comprehensive analysis of narrative characteristics in Hunan TV outdoor reality show through the methods of narrative analysis and literature analysis focusing on the narrative person, narrative perspective, narrative character, narrative structure, etc, We hope this paper could provide useful references and real experience for our country’s current outdoor reality show.
