This thesis studied the SDH (Synchronous Digital Hierarchy) technology and MSTP(Multi-Service Transfer Platform) technology, including rate, frame structure, mapping, multiplexing, positioning method, device type, interface, performance analysis, network structure, self-healing, synchronization method. By comparing the advantages and disadvantages of the technology, the author analyzes the application in electric power system.At the same time, this thesis deeply studies the key technologies in MSTP, including GFP, CCAT, VCAT and LCAS. The thesis studies the application of technology of RPR over MSTP. At the same time, according to the Hangzhou electric power communication optical fiber transmission network, the thesis studies the realization of MSTP networking, the service operation and variety of types of Ethernet service in MSTP network.At last, the thesis studies the network planning of the Ethernet in electric power communication network, and applies the research results of the thesis to the actual network.
