Research On Digital Preservation Risk Assessment Based On SPOT Model

SPOT is a simple property-oriented threat assessment model.Unlike the previous risk assessment using probability theory and mathematical statistics complex method, SPOT model provides the basic properties of six long-term preservation of digital resources,and clears with a series of risk-related properties which are associated with these six attributes. SPOT model can be applied to a variety of different storage database environment, and it not only can support simple risk assessment activities,but also play a significant role in some complex internal risks and external risks assessment.It can help store staff to identify some of the risks in the past which have not been discovered,and provides real-time continuous monitoring of risk preservation methods, and confirms that the repository to follow the accepted standards in risk management process.There are six parts in this paper.The first part is the introduction of the status of digital preservation risk assessment and the significance of the research in this area in our country and abroad.The second part is a simple resolution about the SPOT model,and introduced the basic situation of the SPOT model.The third part introduced the basic contend of the digital preservation risk management including the identification of the digital preservation risk,assessment of the risk and risk management strategies contents of these three aspects.The fourth part is application of the SPOT model in digital preservation risk management,and this part is the key part of the article. The fifth part is done by two cases, detailed analysis of the SPOT model in digital preservation risk management applications. The sixth part is the summary section of the full text.
