With the ever-growing application of computer technology, informationmanagement systems are developed rapidly and have been increasingly applied. In thedaily life, information management systems based on computer technology arechanging our lives. In the fields of national security, it is an inevitable trend to applyinformation managerment systems in the management of inmates and dairy affairs inprisons. Applying computer managerment systems into prisoner managerment workcan obviously reduce the work intensity of prison stuff, improve their work efficiency, and make prisoner managerment safe and reliable. For instance, when the inmatesescape during an outside work, the information managerment system can be utilized toquery the basic information and facial features of the escaped inmates, and providenecessary assistant to arrest them more timely and effectively.A well-designed prisoner managerment system is able to benefit the wholeprocess of the prisoner managerment work. The common entities in a typical prisonermanagerment include police officers, prison officers, prison facilities, prisoners, materials, equipments, funds, and other neccessary information resources in a prison. Its typical implimentations include personal information management, execution ofpunishment managerment, education management, prisoner location and trackingmanagerment, visitors management, and etc. This thesis attempts to investigate the requirements and develop a practicalprisoner management system, based on Delphi and SQL server techniques. During thedesign and development of the system, software engineering methods are leveraged tomake the produced system efficient, flexible, and easy-to-use. The basic goal is toachieve automation, digitization, networking and informationization in the prisonermanagement work. The main contributions of this thesis are as follows.Firstly, by comprehensively surveying the related work both at home and aboard, and deeply analyzing the main requirements and essential goals, an architecture ofprisoner managerment system is proposed, with adopting modularization in its fuctiondesign and realization.Secondly, by fully utilizing ideology and methods of software engineering, theproposed system is able to provide basic functions required with adopting Delphitechnology and SQL Server database system. The system fully leverage the characteristics of Delphi, e.g., the surpport of flexible and rapid access to databasesystem through the connection mode of ADO or BDE, thereby significantly improvethe whole system efficiency. In addition, the system also realizes the data to be storedas EXCEL tables which are widely used, so as to make the management of relevantinformation extremely simple and efficient.Thirdly, the designed and produced system is fully evaluated by performingcomprehensive mearsurements. The results indicate that the produced system is ableto effectively satisfy the basic fuctional requirements of a typical prisonermanagement system. The correctness, effectiveness and stability of the system isdemonstrated. According to both the mearsurements and the actual system operations, the proposed system has effectively achieved the intended objectives andrequirements of this thesis.
