The Text Interpretation Of Homeland Dreamland

The reform and opening up policy has brought the rapid economic development to this nation and improved the standards of living of Chinese people. With the satisfaction of material needs, people has started to pursue the spiritual enjoyment and strived to seek for the root of culture. However, with the acceleration of globalization, the intrusion of western dominant culture leads to the looseness and drain of our native culture. And it is easy for people to lose themselves under such a culture clash. As a tourism program, Homeland Dreamland guides the audience to appreciate the beautiful rivers and mountains, touch the cultural accumulation and sense the good qualities of ordinary people all over China through the experiential travelling. By telling the stories of grassroots, the show exhibits the richness and colorfulness of geo-culture and charisma of traditional culture. Also, the travelling and narration of the show link to the profound emotion of family and country, which helps audience to generate an identity with Chinese national culture.The first chapter of this thesis focuses on the introduction of the program Homeland Dreamland. The first section summarizes the development of the program and then discusses its tourism and cultural significance on the base of analysis of tourism programs" development. From two main aspects including the series-oriented content focus change and the experience-oriented dual identity narration, the second section deeply analyzes characteristics of the program and dissects different series of themes with the perspectives of magnificent and simple borderland, opening and innovative coastal areas, natural and mysteries latitude 30 degrees north in China. In basis of text analysis, chapter two discusses the classified cultural expression of the show. The first section of the chapter sums up the show’s surface cultural image in two ways:natural landscape and cultural landscape. The second section discourses the life itself as a practical cultural image from three different respects including the homestead construction of improvement of living, the irresistible delicious food, plain and simple pursuit of life. Based on the text, the last chapter expounds the cultural identity construction that the show implies from three aspects about the symbol, the image and the collective memory:　firstly, the thesis discusses how the show promote the cultural identity in terms of boundary symbols (including boundary makers, national flags and ports) and minority symbols(including instrument and dress); secondly, it discusses the cultural identity from the aspects involving the construction of personal images, family images and hometown images; thirdly, from the angles of historical events and national customs, the thesis analyzes the collective memory that contributes to the construction of cultural identity.Xi Jinping, the general sectary of CPC, emphasized that new rural construction must pay attention to the characteristics of native lands and it was vital to maintain the style and features of rural areas, to reserve the green mountains and blue waters, and to remember the homesickness when he was carrying out an investigation in Yunnan province earlier this year. Homeland Dreamland just makes the audience strike a chord through demonstrating the rural landscape, green mountains and blue waters, and diligent, simple laborers.
