A Study On The Professional Identity Construction Of"the Journalist Apprentices"

Journalism education, whether domestic or foreign, is based on the "journalism". It is a vocational education. In other countries, before the birth of journalism in university, being an apprentice of the local newspaper was an only way into the news industry. At present, although the journalism education of university develops very fast, the training mode of "the Journalist Apprentices" still lasts. In our country, there is no call to "Journalist Apprentices", but it does exist. In this paper, the news reporters graduated from college into the media about two years are defined as "Journalist Apprentices". And I interview the "Journalist Apprentices". Through the interviews, we know self-awareness about their identity, and motivation of the Professional identity Construction, and the ways to construct Professional identity, and the problems in the problem. Besides, I will study it combining with identity theory and the theory of identity construction, hoping to provide a feasible basis to enhance the quality of journalists.Through the analysis of the interviews, I firstly find that "the Journalist Apprentices" have a rational understanding of self-awareness and the professional identity, and the career is not their only choice. However, they are still willing to being news reporters. And there are three reasons. Firstly, the Journalists are professional, which is a confirmation of their professional self-identity. Secondly, the "Journalist Apprentices" have their own favorite reporters, which is their recognition of the identity of the groups. Third, "the Journalist Apprentices" want to help the others, which are their expectations for their professional role. Thirdly, the paper reviews the path of construction of "the Journalist Apprentices", including university education, professional training, pre job training, and the news practice. Besides, this paper summarizes the problems of the Professional identity Construction of "the Journalist Apprentices".Therefore, there are some distance between the education of journalism and the practice. In order to construct the "Journalist Apprentices" professional identity, the university cannot ignore the the practice of journalism education, and the media must strengthen the professional training and guidance of "the Journalist Apprentices".
