With the state’s information development strategy clearing that information technology to promote industrialization, in turn information technology driven by industrialization, in the coming years, there will be more and more infrastructure facilities accessing to the whole platform in any intelligent ways. In the network video surveillance system, the streaming terminal which is responsible for data collection and data access plays a crucial role in improving the level of information throughout the whole system. In the traditional video surveillance system, streaming terminal is generally software encoded which is low efficiency, high resource consumption and low resolution. In addition, the original design of wired connection into the whole platform now no longer meets the needs of the moment. More and more terminals are asked to access to the network wirelessly, and then transmitted the data to the platform via a wired connection. In this thesis, we use TI’s DaVinci technology to tackle the encoding issue, and improve the original TFRC protocol to be able to adapt to the wireless-wired hybrid network. Ultimately we design and implement a streaming terminal based on the improved TFRC protocol fulfilling the video capture, video encoding, video storage, video transmission functions. Following are the key elements:1. Analysis of the main techniques used in the streaming terminal including DaVinci technology which is designed specifically for the multimedia applications, and several mainstream streaming protocols. A comparative analysis of their advantages and disadvantages is conducted then.2. Algorithm improvements are made in the TFRC transmission control protocol. The original version of the TFRC protocol suffers performance declining problem in the wireless-wired hybrid network. This thesis proposes an improved scheme. The improved scheme designs a new congestion control strategy based on the delay jitter ratio and a new throughput formula. The final simulation results show that the goodput and TCP-friendliness are improved in the new scheme.3. Based on the specific needs of the streaming terminal, technology selections are both made in the hardware and software perspective. Ultimately we confirm the overall hardware and software solutions for the streaming terminal, dividing the entire software into the video capture, video encoding, video storage, video transmission modules. The transmission module accomplishes the improved TFRC transmission control protocol.
