With the rapid development of high-definition technology and high-speed camera field, people are no longer satisfied with the existing resolution of the images and low refresh rate of the videos. Multimedia information whit higher resolution and refresh rate is the trend of people’s demands, and is also the trend of the development of science and technology. Image encoding and decoding system is the core unit of high speed image processing system. So that the quality and transmission efficiency of multimedia information are directly affected by it’s encoding and decoding ability.DVI1.0 standard interface is widely used in digital image processing systems. However, it is unable to transfer higher frame frequency and higher resolution digital video since its pixel clock can only be up to 165MHz. Aimed at this problem, a high speed image processing system based on dual link DVI interface is designed in this paper by using Xilinx company’s Kintex 7 series FPGA as the core processor, using DDR3 SDRAM as the storage device and using DVI as the data transmission interface. DVI dual link receiving and transmitting, real time video image coding algorithm processing and frame rate reducing are realized in the system by means of pipeline design, look-up table, ping-pong operation and MCB controller.On the basis of introduction of DVI standard interface, core processor and memory device, system structure, design schemes, key techniques, encoding and decoding algorithm and the whole system debugging are described in detail in this paper. The pixel clock of this system can be up to 330MHz.
