The Design Of Advanced Planning Scheduling System Basedon Resource Constraints

The establishment, implementation and management of production planning are the keys to enabling manufacturing enterprises function well and keep developing. Although more people were assigned to support production planning in Electronic Light, the producing lines still usually stopped and the orders still delayed sometimes due to continuous increase of labor, materials and financing costs. The reason for that was the lack of simple and efficient visualization tools, effective methods for feasibility assessment and prediction, and implementation and tracing system. Depended on the ERP system and personal experience of production planning managers, which was hardly capable for adjusting the plans in case of emergencies. Therefore it was an urgent need for Electronic Light to use a more efficient, accurate and visualized production planning management system instead of the old one that depended on human decisions.This paper is based on the case of the application of the advanced planning and scheduling system in Electronic Light Co. Ltd. First of all, the necessity of introducing the advanced planning and scheduling system into enterprises to improve the production planning management is illustrated in this paper. Next, underlying data of plan, visualized planning management, plan schedule tracing, etc., as well as the main process of the establishment, performance feedback and the adjustment of production planning are discussed. Then, the overall structure of the system is analyzed, and the core subsystem such as basic data management, establishment and assignment of production plans and production plan schedule tracing are designed in details. The methods of planning that is based on the model of capacity restriction is focused on in the discussion, and the advanced planning and scheduling system’s role in enterprise production planning are discussed from several aspects like establishment efficiency and visualization. Finally, the effects of production planning before and after using the advanced planning and scheduling system are compared, which shows the importance of using the system in enterprises.
