With the development of the Internet technology,numerous new products have come out. Barrage websites are prominent rise of these new products in recent years.As a new-type website that shares videos, barrage websites become popular among young group thanks to its immediate comment and interaction.And “barrage” is also gradually known by more people. The barrage of video originated from the ACG culture of Japan,and has changed the form of video viewing.It includes interaction throughout the whole video, and has also brought the new network hot spots. This paper will start from the perspective of culture, based on the situation of the barrage and barrage video, and then explore the cultural elements inside of its development and popularity,analyzing the psychological characteristics of the audience.Finally,this paper will try to give some constructive suggestions on the development of barrage websites.This paper is mainly divided into three parts. The first part introduces the concept of barrage and the main components of the barrage. Based on t he history of barrage, it talks about the barrage websites’ process and present situation in China with typical types.The second part reveals the barrage’s development in a narrow range and audience psychology in the process of transmission. Homogenized competition and individual choices make barrage popular, but it is difficult to spread widely. This form is seen as part of the subculture, has not only the feature of departure from prevailing culture, but also feedback to it. As barrage originated in Japan, it has been influenced by ACG culture and Tucao culture.Considering viewing habits and the copyright problems, barrage still belongs to the category of the minority culture. The main users of it are young people, and many of them have fixed habit of using barrage. Identity and sense of belonging in the grougs, as well as the binge of barrage participation, leads them become members of its fan club.The third part is aimed at some problems existing in the development of barrage websites, about promoting community-based development and enhancing the vitality of the user; strengthening the management of barrage system;promoting cooperation; Improving the copyright consciousness. Then it will put forward some constructive suggestions, in order to promote the sustainable development of the barrage websites, and make it better.
