Educational function is an important function of the museum, and its improvement depends on enhancing the educational ability of the museum. It is more comprehensive, initiative and systematic to study the museum’s educational capacity from the perspective of education ecology.Base on the theory of educational ecology, the author established an ecological system model of the museum in macro, meso and micro levels and applied the model to analyzing the educational competence of Zhenjiang Museum in order to provide. some countermeasures and suggestions related to the enhancement of Zhenjiang Museum’s educational capability. This thesis suggests that three measures are required to improve the educational ability of the museum. Initially, it is required to grasp the integrated environment of museum educational ecosystem from a macroscopic perspective, including the full consideration of the regional socioeconomic environment, political and cultural environment, population resource environment, tourist and traffic environment and the influence of these ecological factors. Secondly, it is required to optimize ecological niche of the museum through strengthening its communication and cooperation with public cultural departments, educational institutions, public institutions, enterprises, urban communities, rural towns and other departments in the range of mesoscopic museum educational ecosystem. Lastly, attach great importance to enhancing the content, the methods and the environment of museum education, improving the self-capability of educators, and satisfying the needs of educatees.The significance of the selected topic of this thesis is providing a new theoretical model for the assessment of museum education competency and a reference plan in implementing the new model.
