Abstract/Summary:
With the wide application of iron tower and other tall buildings in the power and communications, the tall building condition monitoring has become an important task in tall buiding’s daily maintenance. Traditional tall building condition monitoring often uses artificial periodic inspection mode. This mode suffers the drawbacks of very subjective state data, inaccurate and lagging monitoring result, long reaction time to the warning and the difficulty of inspecting small changes of tall building’s state, etc. In addition, tall buildings like communications towers and power tower are often constructed at high-altitude and sparsely-populated areas. There exit high labor costs, large monitoring difficulty and a big security risk to inspect tall buidings regularly. Thus, how to better monitor the tall building’s state in real time becomes an urgent problem at this stage.To deal with the above problems, this paper designs a tall building remote online monitoring system terminal, which is placed on tall buildings. The Hardware design is based on AT91SAM9G20-EK processor. The terminal transplants the embedded Linux operating system as an application software management platform. It uses a variety of sensors to collect tall building’s state data such as tilt, temperature, swing frequency, swing amplitude, wind speed and direction, designated area invasion and regular inspection. The terminal processes the initial state data, brings the data together to the monitoring center with the monitoring center software and via 3G wireless network. Monitoring center analyzes each high-rise buildings’monitoring data to get each tall buildings’ security status, and then gives warnings and alarms by voice, text messaging and e-mail timely. Test results show that the terminal is functional and can work stably and reliably for a long time in the wild.
