Zhao Chaogou, a distinguished journalist of China, who founded the first evening newspaper of new China—Xinmin Evening Paper. He is one of the pioneers and experimenters of evening paper career in China, who has made an outstanding contribution to the journalism career of Chinese so cialism. Zhao Chaogou spent his life in journalism career since he joined Nanjing Morning Paper in 1934. He entered Xinmin Paper, and wrote Yan’an in January, and founded Xinmin Evening Paper. He has accumulated a wealth of experience in running newspapers after his engagement in newspaper practice for decades, and he has also created a distinctive journalistic idea. He proposed that “the socialism evening paper should be made by “striving for the common of people’s newspapers, establishing differences that from the evening paper” and the evening paper should give full play to its own features and styles, making a play on the word of “evening”; he advocated that newspapers should serve readers, and later he even presented the slogan of “Xinmin Evening Paper” needs to “fly into the home of ordinary people”; and he believed that the newspapers should be done with the combination of the party character’s principles and populist. He has created many excellent works of essay since the 1930 s. He ever published his essays on the newspaper with the pen name of “Sand” and “Linfang”. His essays were wrote vividly and humorously, and the contents were combined with the current affairs and politics, attacking the current malpractice, speaking for the people, forming a writing style of essay with his personal features. He successively founded Today’s Analects of Confucius, Wei Wan Tan, Ming Fang, among which Wei Wan Tan spans more than half a century, which is the personal column with the largest span and the longest time in the history of China’s news.
