In today’s society, the role which large rotating machinery plays is more and more important in petroleum, aerospace and other fields. Rotating machinery’s normal operation is directly related to the efficiency of industrial production. There is very important significance to ensure the rotating machinery safe operation. The rotating machinery generates the vibration signal which is very important, through analyzing the signal; we can know the operation of rotating machinery. With the development of science technology, computer technology has been gradually mature; people attach importance to the virtual instrument significantly improved. In the virtual instrument, Lab VIEW is the most widely used software. The system uses the Lab VIEW software development platform to build the rotating machinery vibration test system based on the wavelet transform.Firstly, this paper makes a detailed introduction of LabVIEW which is the software development platform of system. Compared to the traditional hardware instrument, LabVIEW has features of centralization, expansibility, maintainability, moderate price. Its unique graphical programming language brings convenience to the researchers.Secondly, the wavelet analysis theory is introduced in detail. Wavelet transform is a kind of technology which relatively develops rapidly in recent years, which has a good application in image processing, geophysical field. For different application requirements, we should choose different wavelet basis. Through the wavelet analysis technology and other signal analysis techniques are compared, we can see the advantages of wavelet analysis.Thirdly, the design of rotating machinery vibration testing system based on wavelet transform is introduced in detail. The hardware includes the acceleration sensor, charge amplifier and tape recorder. The signals were converted from analog format to digital through the sound card, and then the digital signals can be processed and analyzed. The interference components in the signal are filtered by using filter. In the signal analysis technology, the wavelet analysis and spectrum analysis technology are combined. Spectrum analysis can determine the fault types of rotating machinery, and wavelet analysis can determine the positing of the point mutation. The time-frequency analysis comes true.Finally, the vibration test system is used in this research to analyze the simple signal, and the position of the point mutation is found in the signal successfully. The reliability of the wavelet analysis is proved. The system is used to test the signal which is generated by the gas engine and gear box and so on. The types of fault are determined and the positions of the point mutation are found. The result of analysis has a good reliability.
