Gear Measuring Center (GMC) is a precision measuring instrument which consists of mechanical system, numerical control system and computer software system. Its measurement accuracy can be affected by many factors. A variety of bugs which produced in the developing process of computer software is one of the important factors affecting the measurement accuracy of GMC. In this paper, a Virtual Gear Measuring Center (VGMC) is constructed to find out the bugs of the software. This can ensure the correctness of measurement software and improve the accuracy and stability of gear measuring center.By analyzing the errors of gear measuring center, there are several errors and error sources. The sampling strategy error and evaluation algorithm error are related to the measurement software. The algorithm testing system for gear measuring software is put forward according to the content of the evaluation. Its key content is to set up the virtual gear measuring center. It mainly contains three ideal data generator model, i.e. the standard spherical model, the involute model and the involute helicoid model. These models are software. They not only can produce the ideal, no error data, but also can generate data which are superposed with known error. At the same time, the interface software is completed. Then the gear measurement software can be tested using the testing data through the interface. It can be reached the purpose of software evaluation measurement by comparing the testing results with the known result of the superposition error of original data.It produced the same result by comparing a series of testing results with the known testing data. At the same time, it can reach the purpose of evaluating the measurement software and provide some reference to improve and optimize the gear measuring software quality by analyzing sampling strategy error and evaluation algorithm error.
