CNC-Gear measuring center is a precision measurement instrument which combines several state-of-arts technologies, including advanced computer technology, precision machinery manufacturing technology and information processing technology. It adopts coordinate measuring principle, and represents the application of modern advanced gear measuring technology. However, there are still problems to be solved during the measurement process. When the measured gear's theoretical equation is unknown or the form and position errors are beyond the measurement of probe, the measurement process would be too difficult to continue. So the resolution of in the existing control system gear measuring center to include a servo control section has been proposed, it'll use the tracking control technology to the gear measurement to achieve the tracking on the tooth surface by probe.Firstly, the development of gear measurement and tracking control techniques have been discussed as the subject's background in this paper, and an overall design and its implementation approach have been put forward to meet the specific functional requirement of the servo motion controller. And then it's determined to DSP+CPLD motion control as the final solution, before gives these two core chips selection basis.On the one hand, the probe's signal conditioning circuit, PCB board's power management circuits, DSP peripheral circuit and CAMAC bus circuit make up of the works of hardware design; on the other hand, DPS's programming under CCS environment and CPLD's programming with MAX+PLUSā…”development tools forms the software design. The servo motion controller can divided into several functional modules:A/D data sampling, digital PID control, frequency control of motor speed, the CAMAC bus command decoding and axis selecting.Function modules of the tracking control system's software and hardware have been debugged in this paper, and the functions of A/D converting,frequency output and the correctness of signal's logical relationship were verified. The project finally meets the requirements of tracking control system.
