Rapid industrial development on the one hand has promoted the prosperity of economic progress, on the other hand also brought undeniable environmental hazards,.Especially, high concentration of dust particles have had a serious impact to the people’s production and life. In this background it is necessary to detect the concentration of dust, so we need to develop a system for collecting and processing dust concentration data, in order to observe the changes in concentrations of dust, so as to effectively prevent various accidents caused by high concentrations of dust.The dust concentration test system consists of the dust concentration detection device, dust concentration acquisition device and the dust concentration data acquisition system PC software. After comparing the dust concentration measurement methods at home and abroad today, we decided to use the light extinction method as the theoretical guidance to implement the dust concentration detection device. Then we chose the appropriate light source and semiconductor sensors so as to finish the welding and assembling of the dust concentration detection device. The dust concentration acquisition module selects FPGA chip control module for data acquisition system,using ADC0809 chip as data acquisitions system sampling module, finishing the data collection work to the dust concentration detection device. At last we completed data acquisition PC software system under SQL2008 and VB development platform, including interface design, communication design, database design, data trend function design.After completing the design of the dust concentration measurement system, we used tobacco and lithopone as experimental materials and the dust concentration detection device, the dust concentration acquisition device, oscilloscope and computer as the main equipment to complete the dust concentration data acquisition experiment of the constant smoke concentration and the change dust concentration. At last,the experimental results were analyzed to verify the feasibility of the dust concentration measurement system.
