Nowadays, with the rapid development of society and the continuous innovation ofscience and technology, people’s living standards have greatly improved, but attendantenvironmental issues have been serious increasingly. Atmospheric dust pollutions is one ofthe most serious problems, which in turn is closely related with our health and the qualityof life, therefore, we take the monitoring of atmospheric dust and other particulate mattermore and more seriously. Detection of dust concentration has been wide range ofapplications in the mining, petrochemical, environmental protection and other fields, sothe dust concentration measurement has become a hot topic of scientific research.On the basis of the reference of extensive literatures, this paper launched research onthe traditional optical measurement method of the dust concentration which were impactedby temperature change, light stability, photovoltaic device performance drift factors and soon, designed a sensor which could adapt to changing measurement conditions, in order toachieve accurate measurement of dust concentration.Specific studies are as follow:Comparing the advantages and disadvantages of different dust concentrationdetecting methods, the principle of infrared absorption measurements of dust has beenintroduced. A new differential algorithm has been presented to measure the dustconcentration. It could inhibit the interference factors such as temperature change, lightstability, photovoltaic device performance drift factors and so on. The mathematical modelwas established.The overall structure of the dust detection system has been designed based on themodel of the proposed differential algorithm model: the spatial structure of dual opticalpath. The chamber and amplification circuit structure have been designed rationally, thesuitable light source, the detector, the central processor and related devices have beenselected to ensure the accuracy of the dust detection system.The system was calibrated by fitting a straight ling using MATLAB. Through makingthe experiments to compare among capacity of error canceling of the new-beam-optics difference method, traditional two-beam-optics difference method and single-beam-opticsmethod, the dependability of new difference measuring system has been verified.
