Computer-aided design(CAD) has greatly promoted the development of design field,which has attracted enormous attention in the whole society. In 2008, an examination outline for CAD technical ability was established by China technical graphics society. And the training and examination concerning CAD skills have been widely carried out.However, the corresponding desktop examination technique and exam questions system were not published so far. Due to the fact that the exam content of the examination outline and exam form are very difficult and complicated, the detailed researches on “System development of exam database and investigation on the desktop examination technique of industrial products CAD skill three grades” were performed in this thesis, with an intention to obtain a system on which the CAD skill testing, as well as CAD skill learning,could be accomplished facilely for the students at institutions of higher learning and engineering technical personnel.According to the widely used three-dimensional software and the exam contents of industrial products CAD skill three grades, seven testing units were generated based on the desktop examination outline, i.e., complex curve surface design, part parameterization and design technique of variation, model and scene rendering, animation production;assembly simulation and movement simulation, file format conversion and objective questions for industrial products CAD skill three grades. In this thesis, firstly, the above seven testing units including its testing projects, items and the key points were studied by using gradual decomposition, quantization and scored method. Secondly, the desktop testing question design and development of sample questions for above seven units were conducted by using CAD, database, VB programming language and other developing techniques, and lastly, the techniques for the exam database management system were also probed, preliminary generating a question database management system.The work in this thesis provided objective basis for the popularization of engineering CAD skill three grades and the operation level of individual or batch testing learners. The work presented in this thesis has important practical significance in terms of the establishment and improvement of testing criterions and testing content system of CAD skill grades.
