A Study Of American E-book Industry From The View Of Industry Chain

According to the annual report from the Association of American Publishers, e-books accounted for 23% of publisher revenue in 2012. Under this background, this paper takes American e-book industry as the study object from the view of industry chain. On the basis of using different research methods, involving in literature research, comparative research, case study and so on, the paper tries to get a comprehensive understand of American e-book industry and give advice to Chinese e-book industry.The first chapter describes the background and significance of this research. Under the trend of global digital publishing, the proportion of e-book revenue in the whole American book publishing is increasing year by year. Paying close attention to the development of American e-book industry is helpful to us to have a overall understand of publish industry in the whole world and to learn experience from it.The second part looks back to the history of American e-book industry briefly. Raised by the background of multi-media fusion and legal perfection, American e-book industry experienced a relative long rudimentary stage and is experiencing a fast-growing period. During this time, there are happening lots of representative events which have great influence on digital publishing reform.The third part is the main part of this thesis. Basing on the analysis of key data of the industry, the paper is aimed to get overall knowledge of each link of the industry chain.The last part summarizes the advantage of American e-book industry and gives some lessons from it. Combining with our national condition, stressing content, legal and innovation is what we can learn from American e-book industry.
