ZigBee is a wireless communication technology based on IEEE802.15.4standard, widely used in military, industrial control, consumer electronics and other equipment. Due to the limitation of the environment and applications, the nodes of the ZigBee network have no fixed facilities and alternating current power but the batteries to support. Therefore, in order to prolong the lifetime of the ZigBee network, it is important to optimize the network energy, and also plays an important role for the development of the ZigBee network.Based on the energy consumption optimization mechanism of ZigBee network, the main work and innovation points are as follows:First, because of the ZigBee protocol itself to support some function of low energy consumption, so analyzed emphatically the characteristic of the ZigBee network and supporting for low energy consumption. Then studied the energy consumption of the various modules in the ZigBee network nodes, and specific energy consumption of each module. Last analyzed the existing energy saving mechanism of the ZigBee network, points out the key for the next step of energy consumption optimization work.Second, the communication consumption accounts for the main part in the ZigBee modules through analyzing. In order to reduce the communication cost, it need to reduce the consumption of energy for the RF chips as possible. Studied the sleep mechanism for the RF chips in the ZigBee network and established a strategy about a master device control network collective sleep and wake up. Under the premise of normal operation in the ZigBee network, the strategy can be on-demand and dynamic control opening and closing the RF chip and MCU. In this way so as to greatly reduce the energy consumption of the nodes in the network, and is verified in practical ZigBee network.Third, on the basis of reducing energy consumption of a single node in the ZigBee network, consider that some backbone network nodes due to excessive participate in data forwarding, leading the nodes energy consumption is larger compared with other nodes. And it is possible to make the network partition. Therefore, starting from prolonged lifetime of a network, studied the existing routing protocol of the ZigBee network, and developed a kind of energy balancing routing policy. The purpose of the strategy is to find a new route for the nodes to communicate with each other, and balanced the energy consumption of the relay nodes from the source to destination nodes. So that make the each child node in the network energy distribution balanced, thus greatly prolong the network life cycle.Forth, for the realization of a kind of commercial ZigBee protocol, ZigBee PRO Stack, analyzes the running process of the protocol, including the state of the various types of the equipment, and the information interaction in order to maintain the network topology. On the basis of not affecting the basic function of ZigBee protocol, optimized the relatively redundant part and adjusted the strategies about data sending and receiving, which reduces the power consumption to a certain extent.
