With the continuous development of information society, timeliness and convenience in communication technologies are in the increasingly high demand. Wireless communication technology is becoming the development direction of communication technology. ZigBee-based wireless sensor network is a wireless communication technology with short-range, low-rate, low-power and low-cost characteristics. It has been well used in military, industrial, environmental and other areas.With the development of ZigBee technology, the research of this area is going deep. ZigBee network routing algorithm is a hot research topic in this area recently. ZigBee network routing algorithms concern about reducing energy consumption and improving the efficiency of data transmission.This paper first introduces the IEEE802.15.4/ZigBee standard and elaborate the technology principles from network construction to data routing. Two traditional routing algorithms, Cluster-tree routing algorithm and AODVjr algorithm in ZigBee network are introducted in details. Their defects are identified.In order to solve the too many hops problem in Cluster-tree routing algorithm, this paper presents the Hops-less Cluster-tree Routing Algorithm. It reduce the average number of hops and energy consumption by computing the number of hops between different nodes and using the neighborhood mechanisms. The performance of the network is improving.In order to solve the problem that a large amount of flooding are happen during routing discovery process in the AODVjr algorithm, this paper proposes an improved AODVjr algorithm with hierarchical routing and energy balance. It reduces the routing overhead and increases the packet arrival rate. The network performance is greatly improved.This paper uses NS2simulation tool to simulate the routing algorithms and analyse the the simulation results. It results the conclusion that the proposed algorithms improve network performance.
