Driven by IEEE802.15.4group and ZigBee union, ZigBee technology has made asuccess for applications in the areas, such as industrial control, military security,agricultural production, environmental protection, health or some others. ZigBeetechnology could provide great convenience for production and life because it caninvolve digital, voice communication, information collection and positioning.ZigBee technology just took a few years to launch products after the protocol wasproposed, which made it the leader of other short distance wireless communicationtechnologies, and also attracted great attention in scientific research and industry fields.However, study has reflected that there are still many problems existing in ZigBeeprotocol and practical applications. At present, under the social environment ofpromoting green earth and low carbon environmental protection, the characteristic of lowenergy consumption of ZigBee technology has become the most charming and hottestresearch point.Based on understanding the function, characteristics and current research situationof each level of the protocol, and gaining an insight into the LR-WPAN/ZigBee protocolby extensive literature, the dissertation makes reducing the consumption of energy as thekey research point of the LR-WPAN/ZigBee network. The routing strategy which canprolong the network lifetime, reduce energy consumption, balance energy consumptionin the network will be the concentration. Through analyzing the existing problems of thecurrent routing algorithm and the node utilization of ZigBee network, the correspondingimproved algorithm was put forward, which could realize a win-win situation betweenthe network performance and the energy consumption.The creativity of this dissertation is divided into the following aspects:1. In view of the existing problems such as energy imbalance and networkpartioning caused by low energy about LR-WPAN/ZigBee network routing algorithm,an improved routing strategy which integrated the node ability, the mutual position and the residual energy was proposed. The properties and function of network nodes wereredefined in this strategy, and the redefined neighbor table was also led into the routingprocess. In the process, according to the information of neighbor nodes and the capacityof routing implementation, the different packets were treated differently by means of theresidual energy of nodes and the control over redundant packet. The strategy effectivelyreduced the energy consumption of network nodes, balanced the energy of network, andprolonged the network lifetime.2. According to the inevitable problems about the orphan nodes that caused by theoperation process of ZigBee network topology, an improved accessing strategy wasproposed. In this strategy, nodes could access to the original network according to theoriginal topology parameters and the number of the potential father nodes. The strategyprolonged the lifetime of network, and improved the energy utilization of network nodes.
