With the rapid development of information technology, wireless networks play amore and more important role in our daily life. ZigBee, an advanced technology ofshort-distance wireless communication technology, gains wide popularity in manyfields. Both protocols and application fields are under rapid growth for ZigBeetechnology is brand-new. While experts are looking for wide applications fields ofZigBee, problems such as network configuration, performance analysis and protocoloptimizations remain further discussed.In this paper, we realized the IEEE 802.15.4/ZigBee stack with NS2 whichoffers platform for researchers for further optimizations. Also included are networkperformances of ZigBee.A data-oriented routing selection strategy is proposed and simulated. The resultsindicate that the cross-layer design was highly efficient in reducing network costs.An algorithm based on energy-balance strategy is designed to improve nodeexhaustion and network proportion. The optimum path or hypo-optimum path isselected by integrating the idea of accumulated path loss and link energy loss.Our researches are based on the characteristics of ZigBee network for low-rate,low-cost and low-power applications. The results show that network performance andcontrol overhead are improved greatly. |
