Relay regulation or single chip microcomputer is adopted to control the traditional sewage pumping station system. However, there are some disadvantages about relay control: not intelligent, poor maintainability, easy to drift and the operation reliability of the pumping station can’t be guaranteed. The stability of system controlled by single chip microcomputer technology is very low. On the other hand, since the system is closed, it is complicated to change the control process. By the aid of PLC control technique, the operation reliability of the system can be guaranteed. Meanwhile, the long-term maintenance can be avoided which also saves manpower cost.In this paper, a new sewage pumping station system with touch screen and industrial PC as mainframe monitor system is designed based on PLC technique according to the technology of sewage pumping station and requirements provided by the manufacturer. Using PLC technique to realize automatic control would accomplish the function that the traditional relay control can not achieve by tuning the corresponding technical parameters appropriately.In the new sewage pumping station system, OMRON PLC, frequency converter and touch screen are adopted. The software design process of the system and the criterion of the monitoring system are presented respectively. The upper configuration software is applied to monitor the situation by equipping with a touch screen control system at all terminals (control cabinet).The automatic rotation of the pump can be implemented by the aid of ultrasonic liquid level gauge, and designed functions about alarm, recording, real-time monitoring. The remote monitoring and unmanned operation mode of the pumping station can save manpower and reduce running cost.The uniform design of the system can distribute the function reasonably and avoid the repetition of the function and incompatibility which make it more convenient to maintain the system.
