In recent years, with the development of Micro Electro-Mechanical Systems(MEMS)and information technology, there is a tendency that medical devices are more portable,intelligent and networked, which lays a foundation for the research of remote medicalmonitoring. Currently, most of the medical detection devices in domestic monotoringsystems are wired communication, it has the drawbacks of wiring difficulties,complicated operation, lack of flexibility and being unconductive to the maintenanceand expansion, while the existing wirless monitoring systems can’t meet the medicalrequirement of timeliness and reliability, are far from practical application. ZigBee hasbeen widely used in monitoring, control and many fields due to its low powerconsumption, good security, flexible networking and other advantages. ApplyingZigBee wireless technology and combining with medical sensors, it has vital realisticsignificance to develop a practical wireless intelligent medical monitoring system.Due to the defects of previous medical minotoring systems, this paper studies acommunity-oriented remote medical monitoring system solution based on ZigBeetechnology. The system is simple in operation, flexible, reliable and real-time.This paper designed the general scheme of system through analysis of therequirements of system, and specifies network architecture and networking of ZigBee.On the basis of in-depth analysis of some common ZigBee routing algorithms from theaspect of congestion control of network, paper studies a new routing algorithm ofZigBee suitable for community monitoring network in terms of the characteristics ofmedical monitoring network which defines link cost index, realizes energy balance ofnodes meanwhile avoided the loss of data packets through dividing energy rank ofnodes and setting available buffer threshold, and verifies the superiority of the networkperformance through simulation in MATLAB environment. Paper designs the system’shardware and software in detail, which uses portable and light physiological sensors andCC2430to collect and send patients’ physiological information and realizesphysiological data transmission between ZigBee network and Internet via gateway, alsouses virtual instrument LabVIEW to design human-machine interface. Paper sets uptestbed of system to do experiments, the results validate the feasibility of the system.
