Monitoring system is important and widely used in hospital whichmonitors different kinds of physiological parameters. Almost all kinds oftraditional hospital monitoring systems are based on wired connectionswhich makes the system difficult to move and as a result causesinconvenience to the patients.With the development of wireless sensor network recent years, moreand more people has realized the broad application prospects of hospitalmonitoring system based on wireless sensor network. In the view of this, anew kind of monitoring system based on ZigBee network is proposed here.The system collects real-time physiological parameters such astemperature, oxygen saturation, pulse and blood pressure through ZigBeewireless network and the patients’ latest status can be obtained from thenurse work station, thus providing reliable information for furtherdiagnosis and medical measures.Besides, to extend the scope of application, a new solution of usingGPRS as an auxiliary communication method is proposed.Firstly, the research background and the general research situation arereviewed, and some proposals are made to solve the disadvantages in theexisting systems.Secondly, some basic theory and key technologies such as ZigBee,GPRS, physiological parameters measurement are introduced. Somecomparisons between the key technologies are made to illustrate therationality of technology selection.Thirdly, a detailed description of the system’s design and implementation is made.At last, the existing problems of the system and the correspondingsolutions to improve the system are proposed according to the debuggingresult.
