With the speeding up of the social development and the pace of people’s life,most young parents are busy with their jobs,so that they have no enough time to take care of their children at home.However,the video monitoring is the most intuitive form of guardianship,the problem of children-care has already become the focus in society now.According to the way of the transmission in video monitoring system,the video monitoring system can be divided into two kinds:one is wired video monitoring,the other is wireless video monitoring.The wired video monitoring is stable and reliable,which has a fast transmission rate.However,the wireless video monitoring can make up the shortcomings including the difficult of constructing,the high cost of network construction, and the huge maintenance workload.Although the two system can meet the basic requirements of video surveillance,their function is relatively single,and the traditional video monitoring system have only one terminal that can move(client or the monitoring terminal).It can extend a multiple function system if combining the wireless video monitoring with the mobile platform.This paper analyzed several ways of video monitoring,in order to realize the request of the multi-function extension,then designed a wireless mobile video monitoring system for Android based on Arduino and WiFi,which can be easy to enlarge and do the interaction easily. The system includes two parts:the video monitoring terminal and the client terminal,the video monitoring terminal is responsible for monitoring and transmissing video signal,the client is responsible for receiving video and controlling the movement of mobile platform terminal.This paper chose the Arduino UNO Rev3as a controller,3G mini router as a video processor and smart devices with Android system as the client.The Arduino controller is responsible for the control of the video monitoring terminal and the interaction with the client,the router is responsible for video capturing,video processing and video transmitting.This paper focus on the construction of the mobile platform and software.For the hardware,this paper introduced the control circuit in Arduino UNO Rev3,the communication circuit between Arduino and SIM900and video capturing circuit.For the software,the mobile platform terminal has set up a small Linux platform called OpenWrt,programmed, optimized and transplanted the MJPG-streamer video server,programed a web application for capturing the real-time video image,writed a control program for Arduino UNO Rev3and an Android application in client terminal.The test results show that the system can run well,the video capturing module can meet the request for capturing the image35frames per second,the optimized MJPG-streamer meet the real-time demand,the client module can show the image accurately and interact with the mobile platform terminal.The wireless video monitoring system based on Arduino and Wi-Fi will have wide application prospects.
