With the development of Internet of Things (IOT) and big data, Ad hoc network are widely deployed into data-aware, VANET, environment monitoring and emergency communication. In order to improve the performance of Ad hoc network in real application, the paper focus on developing a new routing protocol and a network management platform for real-world application.We found that DSR protocol with minimum hop counts metric cannot find an effective route from the source to the destination, which cause large packet loss. But in practical applications, expected transmission count metric (ETX) always fluctuates over time even in fixed scenarios, and does not incorporate the effects of gray area and fluctuating links. Considering these drawbacks, we devise the average expected transmission count with threshold metric (AETXT). AETXT makes two improvements:(1) with incorporating average ETX (AETX) instead of ETX as the criterion of link quality, AETXT balances the consistency and flexibility of ETX values;(2) With introducing a threshold to AETX, AETXT incorporates the effects of gray area and fluctuating links. This paper describes the design and implementation of AETXT based on DSR protocol. Measurements demonstrate that when the path length gets to5, AETXT outperforms ETX by50%,14.7%,5.8%and5.7%in terms of TCP throughput, UDP throughput, TCP packet loss and UDP packet loss, respectively. AETXT outperforms ETX greatly when transferring real-time multimedia streams like live video. We approved an improvement for DSR parameters and testified it.The paper also developed a new network management platform, It can collect the topology information, set the parameters automatically, what’s more, it can collect, store and distribute the sensor data automatically.
