With the development of IoT (Internet of Things) technology, IoT applications will step into various aspects of people’s lives. A consequent result is that lots of information will be produced in the network. How to disseminate the information efficiently and fast is a great challenge for IoT.Currently, there are many research work about IoT information dissemination. In conventional end-to-end information dissemination, nodes need to know the physical or logical location of information. When users want information, they need to know the address of the information first. ICN (Information Centric Networking) technology deems the information content as the center. It uses the information name as the information searching and transmission identifier, thus network is more scalable. Therefore, the work of this paper is to apply the idea of ICN to the design of IoT platform for the information dissemination.In order to meet the needs of IoT, a method of information dissemination is proposed based on information content and information attributes. It named information based on information content. Through this method, nodes can disseminate information actively, which reduces the delay of information distribution. To implement the active distribution method based on information content and information attributes, this paper proposes three specific methods:active information disseminating based on FIB (Forwarding Information Base) entries, active information dissemination triggered by information requests and information dissemination based on building PFT (Push Forwarding Table).According to the requirements of IoT information distribution, this paper designs a platform for IoT. It consists of the physical link layer, content dissemination layer and content processing layer. The detailed design of information dissemination module is also given in this paper, including the architecture and the key functions.In order to verify the applicability of the proposed information dissemination method, the information dissemination module and three dissemination procedures are implemented in the NS-3environment. Through analyzing the simulation results the feasibility of the proposed method is verified.
