With the wide application of the Internet of Things and the development of various smart devices,there are more and more heterogeneous network elements in the Internet of Things.They have huge differences in terms of computing and storage capabilities.How to solve the interconnection and interoperability of heterogeneous network elements has become an important challenge to be solved urgently in the Internet of Things.At present,the traditional TCP/IP-based solution has poor support for scalability and mobility.Information-centric network architecture is an important research direction for the future network and can solve the problems of scalability,security,mobility and heterogeneity faced by the network,however,most of the existing studies that apply information-centered to the Internet of Things are not designed for the coexistence of strong and weak network elements in the Internet of Things,using a link state-based routing protocol is a huge overhead for a weak network element and does not support network element dynamic discovery and access.In order to solve these problems,based on the information-centric network architecture,we implement a set of heterogeneous network element communication mechanism for the Internet of Things.First,based on the naming method of spatio-temporal information,the dynamic discovery and access between elements are designed and implemented,and then a data forwarding model and routing strategy are implemented based on the characteristics of naming data network and heterogeneous network in the Internet of Things.Finally,a prototype system is implemented on a variety of hardware devices and deployed in the field.The experimental results show that the communication mechanism effectively reduces the computational,storage and communication overhead of heterogeneous networks and improves the data collection efficiency.
