Video service brings two challenges to the wireless network:the higher quality of experience required by the users and the rapid growth of energy consumption in the wireless network. Therefore, how to reduce the energy consumption of the network while ensuring the quality of video service is a problem that should be urgently considered in the future wireless network. In view of the energy saving technology in the future wireless network, the research of this thesis includes two parts:QoE evaluation of video service and energy consumption reduction in the process of video transmission. This thesis proposes a method to evaluate the quality of video service based on the characteristics of video frames. In MPEG, a GOP contains the following three types of frames:I frame, P frame and B frame. The frame loss of different types have various effects on the decoding quality in the receiver. This thesis study the influence of the frame structure and the frame loss on the QoE for a network where frame losses can be considered independent. The simulation analysis shows that the proposed method can effectively evaluate the impact of frame loss on the quality perception of the video service and has strong practicality in real-time video transmission. This thesis puts forward a method to reduce energy consumption of video transmission in slow fading channel. The method jointly adapts the transmission rate, transmission power, and retransmission limit to minimize the transmission energy while ensuring the quality perception. Firstly, the energy consumption function with the corresponding QoE constraints is built. Then, the probability of frame loss is deduced and the energy consumption model of video frame transmission is built in theory. Finally, the iterative optimization algorithm is used to solve the issues raised. Simulation shows that the proposed method in this thesis can save more energy when the required service quality is higher and the video frame is longer. As the video service has a large amount of data and requires high experience in quality in the future wireless network, the method this thesis presented can effectively reduce the energy consumption in the process of video transmission.
