The Research On The Governance Of Weibo Rumors

The emergence of the Internet has broken the original mode of transmission as well as spawned some new communication platforms. The emergence of Weibo communication platform has brought out more unprecedented changes of transmission mode, spreading information more quickly and more conveniently with brand-new appearance. So the emergence of Weibo, has changed traditional means of information communication, making information transmit far more quickly and widely. Weibo, as a new social network platform, is booming in China. Everything, however, has double-edged sword:even though Weibo develops in an unprecedented speed and new ways, Weibo rumors also appear presenting characteristics of quick spreading and wide transmission.This paper aims to point out the reason of Weibo rumors’occurrence and spread, and to find out the counter-measures for governing Weibo rumors. At first, this paper mainly expounds the background and significance of the topic selection, related literature review and the main research contents and methods to make sufficient preparations for topic proposal. This paper elaborates weibo rumors’history, research status, definition, classification and characteristics to obtain basic reasons of Weibo rumors generation. Based on above, this thesis further analyzes several reasons including technological, psychological, economic, and social reasons, puts forward some factors of generating current Weibo rumors and profoundly explain generation mechanism of Weibo rumors.This paper will also analyze Weibo’s manufacturing and harm from different aspects, and point out that the purpose of rumor producer is to stir up social group, to disturb social order and to trigger social conflicts. To deceive people, these rumor producers tend to pretend as "witness", get individuals’trust, and make rumors out of nothing by distorting facts, whose purpose is scaremongering.On the basis of above analysis, this paper theoretically puts forward the strategies for the governance of Weibo rumors mainly from the perspective of the building electronic government, the acceleration of government information publicity, the promotion and deepening social system reform, the speeding up of legislation process, the increase in law enforcement, the enhancement of social responsibility consciousness of KOL on Weibo and the promotion in media literacy of Weibo users, etc.
